Ecclesiastes 7:8 NIV Better is the end of a matter, this much is sure, but alas if all that’s allowed to matter is how quickly said end comes then what can in the end really matter at all when it’s something seen as unworthy the wait? And this particular problem of what’s always only a pride’s preference is one found and felt plenty thus far by in fact all of us as we’ve all known well this intrepid urgency to hurry toward what can even then be merely good enough as the courage to continue in what may ask we wait is seen as not worth the risk of trading the sooner and thus easier for the humility asked of all hesitancy and hope. For who has to hope in what they already have? Especially that kind of hope as demanded of such things as patience in all its purity. For patience is indeed quite a clarity in life, in faith, of the faith to live a life. Simply because it allows us the time to think, to consider, to reconsider and thus to ensure that what we’re headed to is worth the weight of ...

Luke 14:10 NIV For it's better to lifted up by another than to be brought low by false impressions in regard to our own importance. This is why we’re here told to take always the lowest, the lowly, the look of the lost and lonely as such is as great a place to welcome honor as any other for there is always improvement from the lowest of all situation or circumstance. Alas, well, this is where pride knows only to underwhelm, to undermine, to take hold another frame of mind in which we hear constantly this lack of courage which has considering always that we need be the ones who insist upon our importance, simply so that none may then remain otherwise unaware of it. Indeed, pride, as opposed to the topping, is merely a toppling as it cannot for the life of itself fathom anything other than or outside of its own importance. For that’s what pride is, it’s but a self’s estimation of its own value, its worth, its weight as wanted won within gold and glory as opposed to the misery we see ...

Esther 6:6 NIV The singular vision of all prideful assumption is gathered together against a person, all without their being able to ever believe in the coming backfire that all undertaking undertaken by pride is bound to bring about. For just below the surface it seems that pride’s but a choice to once more involve our voice rather than absolve our choice as chosen often to return our resolve to dissolve into an insistence that life revolve around our preference and pretense, creating then only problems alone that we cannot then alone solve. And this revolving dissolving has us all but absolved from the resolve to live upright and responsibly, reasonably. Simply because pride cannot see from such heights the necessity of such things as patience or reconsideration. No, pride again knows only a singular vision in which every outcome is so desperately certain that none of what we’re doing, nor any of what we imagine done unto us could in any way alter, object or oppose our stance so soli...

Proverbs 16:18 NIV Despite whatever our design might delight, the fact is that the fall cometh unto us all, all then that seems left is our consideration as to what will arrive when it gets here. Or rather we there. Indeed, when it arrives unto our lives, this final fall as promised unto all, will it prove perhaps fracturing or all but perfectly fatal? Will it find us shattered beyond saving or among the few scattered still clinging to faith amongst the many without who thus didn’t see it coming? Will we listen to the hearts which want it not to come for sake of the horrifying humiliation to be both found and felt within the fall from where we’ve built ourselves? Or rather will we seek the sounds of the souls screaming inside to stop building this brink further into a life already at times blown apart by disbelief? Yes, what if the difference which determines the overall survivability of this fall is measured not in our affinity for mediocrity but rather the degree of acknowledgement g...

Revelation 3:17 NIV “I do not need a thing” says pride to the fool willing to buy the lie that such has always been. For it’s to be soon proven that pride is but a spiritual blindness which binds us to our own measure of moral indifference as decided by us but for us each and every day at the input or expect of an entire world all but morally broken. Alas, the difficulty within any blindness is found within its lack of sight, thus a moral blindness as this which binds us to living only for us as if we can live by us has left us unable to see beyond us and thus we’ve become a people so prideful that we cannot even pretend to tolerate anything or anyone who exists outside our pretense, much less those persnickety few who insist we should too. No, pride tells us that we’ve got this, and it listens to every lie needed to keep us so conceited as to actually consider that somehow we’re the matter that matters most. Leaving us unable to realize both just how lowly we are and because of that j...

Proverbs 11:2 NIV Of all the many things we’ve gotten wrong and wrapped around and tangled up and inside out here inside these lives lived upside down, perhaps our thinking wisdom is to be found within us might be the worst of the lot. For there’s been this war raging between pride and humility since God placed humanity upon this scene within which we’ve screamed toward the gross committing of the kind of crime that’s defined our time in a way only described as disgrace. Indeed, though our pride admit it not, the truth is that each of us have lived a way most utterly defiant against His design via designing our own dreams into these ideals that we think at least rival if not best His benevolence. Yes, we are in every way a people prone to pride and the downfall we see is the demand of such a disdain for the One from whom we came. Because the simplicity of humility says that none can appreciate anything should they grow inside an entitlement which says they’re due all that they dream th...
