Luke 12:34 NIV Home It seems as though there’s this unanimous longing inside every human inkling that’s inked in this hope that there exists some place, some thing, something someplace that will accomplish for us this feeling of feeling as if there we belong. As if there’s an outcome to come at some point in which we can look around at all there is and all we’ve missed and just admit that we’re okay. That we’re good with things and how the said have come to turn. That we’ve arrived at that place and time in which we’re content with the content. A place where we can finally rest from our every pretense that assumed we needed our every preemptively tense testing and trashing to ensure the legitimacy of a line we could follow and not get lost again. Because simply put, we’ve done lost too much already. And that’s not what home knows. That’s not what home is. That isn’t where home is. No, home is rather where the heart is and so thus the heart is wherever home waits. And yet this is the di...

Matthew 5:10 NIV In order to find a promise very few care to find one must walk a path very few care to walk. That is in fact the path of the life of a follower of Christ. It leads us through this life teaching us to stop worrying so much about this life. It asks us to trust that there awaits us a promise worth enduring whatever hardship may remain in our way. It calls us to take up our crosses and follow the One who showed us how it’s done. And in that calling we find the reality that our experience down here is likely to be far more in line with what Christ experienced than the comforts everyone else chases. Because He proved that home isn’t here, but also that here doesn’t change the home that’s still to come. You've likely heard it said that your home is your sanctuary. It's supposed to be this place of peace and comfort and a warmth that soothes away the pains of life. Home is this idea of a place where we belong, a place where we're welcomed without hesitation into a ...

Hebrews 13:14 NIV I don’t think it’s quite a question as to whether or not we’ve taken our eyes off of the prize. I think the question lies in why we’ve done so so incredibly. Look around and you’ll see a sea of faces all downcast and angry. Lives filled with frustration over lack of meaning and purpose. Time being spent upon pursuits that will prove not worth the time lost. Millions of people, perhaps all of us in some way, have stumbled ourselves into life void of purpose all because we’ve continued to agree to this lie that tells us that our purpose, our worth, our only way to live a life with meaning is to discover/create/define a home/existence/identity that is possible/acceptable/worthy in this place. It seems as though our modern concept of faith has all of us looking for an enduring city among this civilization. Maybe not a city perhaps, but a life. We're all looking for a life here, trying to make a life here, focused almost entirely upon life here. And while that makes so...

Hebrews 13:14 NIV The topic of contentment and materialism and worldly desires is probably always going to be one that strikes really close to the heart for me personally. As I shared a little yesterday, it's something that I've spent a lot of my life getting wrong. Chased after so many things. Allowed so many man-made idols to consume my thoughts. Poured myself into this idea that I needed to build a life that mattered according to what the world says matters. And yet, looking back, I can say with all honesty that it was all for nothing. Every bit of it. And I think because it's something that I've lived and because I know the consequences, it’s a topic that I only seem to grow increasingly passionate about. The truth is that there is nothing more valuable in this life than our time, and how we choose to spend it has a direction correlation to the amount of joy and peace we find while we're here. But even more than that, it plays a huge part in the destination onto...
