Jeremiah 2:13 NIV The bush became stone And in our excitement to miss the opportunities hidden now forever therein thanks to the choices we’ve made instead we’ve since then determined to so forsake the better that we could have been that now instead we get all pleased with ourselves and this ability to accomplish the destroying of two things (or more) with what is but one stone slung in one attempt to achieve as much as possible both as fast as possible and with as little effort as required. Indeed, killing two birds with one stone is yet another age-old adage that we all know well the meaning and merit thereof. Just doubt we’ve ever considered that the two birds (or more) that we’ve killed were every opportunity to perhaps have become something better than we are, nor then that the stones we’ve thrown are in fact our hearts that have become so solidified and unalive thanks to our decision to do as little as possible whilst always remaining perfectly adamant that it works out as well a...

1 Corinthians 1:21 NIV Foolish wisdom It’s something that we both already have and yet are ironically called to turn around in order to find. And it’s this entirely oxymoronic undertaking as is to be undertaken at first backwards and then forever then on rather upside down that has led many to conclude that faith itself is something that, though existing, makes to no sense for an existence. And it’s that conclusion that either begins or ends the confusion in regard to this call still ringing from a cross taken to crosses taken. Indeed, the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing as those who are perishing presently haven’t the audacity to imagine that getting the dying over with early might somehow achieve for us an inability to do it again should such a fearful opportunity present itself in the future. Which it will. For such is the promise of both every life and then of Judgement Day itself. Simply because both are promised the presence of what is death, as is ...

Jeremiah 6:10 NIV Voicemail For a moment I’d like you to imagine that you’ve been living a life stuck inside a certain situation in which you’re all but direly desperate to get out of, to leave behind, to move on from and likely even forget altogether once gone. Something like being in prison or stuck on some deserted island in the middle of some sea somewhere. And for however long you’ve been there you’ve been trying all you could think of in order to remedy this struggle that you’re facing, the pain that you’re feeling, the misery that meets you fresh every morning and never leaves your side even when you try but only fail to sleep at night. And let’s say that you hear a plane flying overhead or are just certain you’ve just seen a ship on the distant horizon or were just told you could make one more phone call to see if you could get ahold of someone to maybe speak to the judge and get you a second chance to have your case heard. And let’s say you make that call or start gathering wo...

Malachi 3:14 NIV The gain It seems that we’re all quite capable of rather easily understanding that most things in life that are to most likely prove those having been most worth doing are oftentimes the very same as those which bring at least some measure of misery or uncertainty or similar experiencing of discomfort as is designed inside all we just don’t like. And while this makes sense, unfortunately it would seem that the sense we’ve elsewise sought to make of it has made of us an unwillingness to endure that which we don’t enjoy. So much so that despite the degree of personal growth or even potential hope we rather decide to most often descend away from such dangers as personal displeasure and social discomfort. All for the sake of never again having to seem as if we are but these who so continually manage to fail or fall short of the fun and fame being so clearly sought by every other name given amongst man. All because our greatest concerns are anymore so centered upon men that...

Proverbs 26:12 NIV A fool’s hope It’s something found in the fact that perhaps only a fool can know they are both a fool and thus without hope. For, contrary to common understanding, it’s not always the having or knowing of something that offers us the chance to have it or know of it but sometimes, perhaps even oftenly so, our not having something that we elsewise know we need is what acts as the catalyst to our finding of it within this rare exchange of the arrogance which sees no need for the humility that knows such hope. For in truth, only humility is able to grow, and so only the humble can really know of any hope at all. After all, how can anyone ever come to have what they have no idea they need? And well, how can one think they need hope when they believe they've already arrived at the very best of their life? For, if such is truly the case and they have finished the race in what now was the chase of their lives to find this now found best of this life, well then what is th...
