Psalm 119:71 NIV Our world has taught us to avoid pain and suffering at all costs. We're made to think that if it hurts then it's just nothing but bad. We think that being uncomfortable is only a sign that something is off and we need to hurry up and get through it as quick as we can. But I'm pretty sure that's all hogwash. It's nothing but a bunch of built-in excuses that we lean on to avoid the tough lessons in life. That's what we really need to understand. We need to face things that make us uncomfortable. We need to be afflicted because it helps us learn just how badly we need to be leaning on a strength higher than our own. If all we ever experience are easy days then we'll definitely have plenty of comfort in our lives. But we'll never learn anywhere near as much. That's why we need strife and hardship.
