Colossians 2:23 NIV When the purpose is purely personal, the performance is probably pathetic. But here's the problem, being the performers we've become, we've become unable to see that far from stadiums, the only thing we're selling out is ourselves. And having been on sale for so long, we've left next to nothing with which to buy any semblance of sense that would afford us the humility to grasp our one opportunity to be saved from such an eternal loss as the letting go at rock bottom prices the pricelessness of Christ and all He's freely provided. Colossians 2:23 NIV Failing to fully understand the severity of our fallen condition hasn't only led us to being God's enemies through living lives that Scripture says are hostile toward Him, but it's also caused us to fashion our very own stumbling blocks that prevent our full acceptance of faith and the truth it's built upon. Not only have we failed to find the necessity of God’s will and acknowledge the authority of His Word, but we've arrogantly sought to replace them. Don't believe me? How often do you think about what you need to wear to church on Sunday morning in order to appear presentable to the rest of those gathered in the congregation? Thought I'd just toss that one out there because it's one of the clearest examples of human expectations that we've all, at one time or another, found ourselves overly concerned about.
