Day 2027 of the 7 day Bible verse challenge.

Psalm 1:1 NIV

Our post yesterday was about how we need to be careful who we associate with in our lives. The people around us have a seriously big impact on us, and it's up to us to make sure that they're making us better and pushing us in the right direction. This verse in Psalms is right along that same line of thought. Choose your circle carefully, because it's going to tell the world a whole lot about who you are yourself.

I think sometimes we allow ourselves for forget our morals, our beliefs, our priorities, or so many other things all so that we can feel more loved and accepted in this world. Nobody wants to feel all alone in life, but we need to watch becoming so desperate for companionship that we lose ourselves to get it. While it's fun and makes us feel good to have a ton of friends or relationships, if they pull us in the wrong direction, then they're just not good for us.

We shouldn't be afraid to walk alone if it means that we walk in the right direction. We shouldn't be afraid to walk away from people we thought were our friends if they're leading us to do, say, or think things that we don't agree with. We should only be focused on being who God made us to be and making the choices we feel Him leading us to make. People around us may not get it, but that's okay. We're not here to please other people. We're here to live the life that God has planned for us.

When all is said and done, we're the ones that are responsible for the choices we make and the things that we do. So if we're around people who encourage us to do things that we know are wrong, then it's on us to make those hard choices and walk away. While it might feel like we're leaving something behind, we're actually only cutting loose the dead weight that's held us back. And we will be better for it in the end!

Don't lose yourself to become what someone else expects you to be. Don't let go of your morals, your faith, or your soul to fit in with anyone. We might have to walk some lonely paths in life, but we know that Christ is always with us, so we're never truly alone. We're far better off to walk away from the wrong crowd and live a good life than to walk with them in their darkness and suffer for it. Never allow yourself to be pulled in the wrong direction for any reason. You are made for better than that!

  1. Amen. And we may not get the chance for another day or another chance. Gotta start right now. "Get right or get left"
