Day 2029 of the 7 day Bible verse challenge.

1 Peter 3:8 NIV

Okay, so I'm gonna ask you guys to follow me into this fairy tale that I can't help but keep imagining. Picture this place where everyone gave everyone else a little room to be human. Not necessarily agree on everything, that truly is impossible! Not even try to understand everything someone else does, equally unlikely. But just this place where everyone was humble enough to realize that we're all just trying to figure out this life thing.

It's a dream, this hope of a more peaceful world. Now I know that it isn't gonna happen. Sadly, I think that we're too far gone in some ways. There are too many people who have taken their selfishness and gone wild with it. Too many people are focused on fighting and arguing all the time. And too many people just don't care anymore. So I know that it isn't gonna happen, but that doesn't mean that things can't be better.

While that old dream of world peace might be hanging on by a thread, we all still have the opportunity to help keep it from snapping. We can't change the world over night but we can refuse to quit trying. We can come together and focus on making one another better. We can strive to find ways to help those around us. We can aim for unity and never stop working to get there.

We don't all have to agree. We don't all have to get along every moment of the day. We don't have to understand everything everyone else does. We don't even have to like everyone. But we do have to love everyone. We do have to be compassionate and realize that those around us are humans that are struggling just like we are. We do have to stop seeking our own selfish desires and pursuits and put others first from time to time.

If we all did one or two little things that helped show others that they're loved and that we're with them in this crazy thing we call life, then we are making a difference. Might not change the world overnight, but as long as we're doing good and being the good people that we're here to be, then things will change for the better. I just don't want to live in a world where everyone has given up and stopped caring about their brothers and sisters. We're better than that! And if we hold onto that truth, then yes, we can make this world a better place.

  1. It's not impossible. Starts with all of us and it's what God wants us to do. It's what Jesus did.

    1. Amen, and good point! If we claim to be followers of Christ then we should try to follow His example!
