Day 2037 of the 7 day Bible verse challenge.

John 12:43 NIV

The day before yesterday I talked about this amazing new peace that I've found in my life recently. I've just discovered that I don't have to be approved of by anyone else. I don't have to live my life to please anyone or meet this world's expectations. It's truly like this weight has been lifted off of my heart, mind, soul, and life. One of those things that I honestly hope everyone gets to experience because it just brings a smile to your face!

It gets old trying to be everything that you think everyone else wants you to be. Kind of like what I talked about in yesterday's post. We spend our lives living to be the best we can be and trying to live up to the expectations that we've been told matter. But in the process of trying to be what everyone else wants, we lose sight of who God made us to be, and that's the only place we can find this peace that is unlike anything else.

People do things they don't like or agree with and justify them by thinking that it's who and what they're supposed to be to fit in or be successful in life. They bend and twist to gain the approval of people who are no different than they are. They buy into all the things that they're told are important just because they figure that maybe someone's on to something and it'll lead them to this happiness that everyone else seems to have.

But living our lives to justify ourselves is just a waste of time because we don't need it. We don't approval. We don't need worldly justification for who we are or who we hope to become. Folks, we've been justified by Christ and His gift opens up a future that this world cannot rival. So when we finally get the fact that we're heirs to something far bigger than all this, then all the petty ways our world thinks and operates just don't matter anymore.

Please stop living your life seeking to be justified by a world that doesn't have the right to define you. Stop trying to live up to what others want you to be and just be you. Be who God made you. Live the life that He wrote for you. And don't expect anyone to get it, agree with it, or accept it. In truth, it just doesn't matter if they do. Faith will never be all that popular in a place that celebrates sin. But that's okay, again, it's not about being popular or understood.

God put the truth of who we are and what really matters inside of our hearts. We've just learned to stop listening to it so that we can listen to so many other things. It's time we stop trying to feel accepted and appreciated in this place, because that will only force us to become more like it. And that's so much less than we were created to be!

    1. Amen, well said! When He's first, everything else just falls where it should be. And it helps us see what really matters most!
