Day 2056 of the 7 day Bible verse challenge.

Job 5:1 NIV

I really want to encourage everyone to keep Christ on the throne in your life. It's that time in our society where we're all gearing up to see who's going to be running our country for the next several years. To be honest, not feeling it. Never been interested in politics, think it's mostly just this distraction that's pretty much fueled by lies and greed. Not the kind of thing that interests me.

But I've found myself heading even further in that direction of disconnect here lately. I just can't bring myself to spend any time putting any faith in some rich person who says all this stuff and never backs any of it up. From what I have seen, things aren't looking all that great when it comes to the options we have to choose from to run our country.

Thankfully, it doesn't really matter. No matter who gets voted into office, Christ is still on the throne. No matter who holds any worldly title, Jesus is and always will be King of Kings. That's where I wanted to encourage you guys to keep your focus. If politics is your kind of game, have at it. Just don't forget that there's only one person who truly has your best interests in mind.

What scares me is to see how we manage to build these celebrities, politicians, and other famous people up into these idols. We worship them with our time, our attention, our money even. We hang up the signs, post the hashtags, and try to recruit our family and friends to join their team. I just can't help but think we shouldn't be spending so much energy serving someone who will never know we even exist.

Christ, on the other hand, knows your name. He knows your heart. He sees your purpose. He heals your wounds. He died to save your soul. It's pretty clear who we should be devoted to if you ask me. Either way, just don't let anything or anyone else become holy in your eyes. There is only King, only one Savior. So feel free to be as interested as you want in supporting some candidate. Just don't put your hope and faith into anyone other than the One who truly loves you and was willing to lay down His life to prove it.
