Day 2078 of the 7 day Bible verse challenge.

Psalm 16:8 NIV

Distractions. Confusion. Gullibility. Peer pressure. Acceptance. So many things in life pull us away from God. And the more we're focused on all these other things the more off balance we're going to feel. It really only makes sense. When you're bouncing from one thing to another all the time, it's going to be nearly impossible to find any kind of peace or solidity in life.

Thankfully, we actually have a voice in what occupies our focus and attention. I've found it really strange the past week or so, but I've really felt this pull in my life. I've felt God pulling me to go deeper into faith. I've felt this need to turn my focus away from most of the things going on around me and give Him everything I can. I'm becoming less and less interested in the way the world is going, and more interested in setting my mind on things above.

This year has brought about so much uncertainty and so much change. And all of that upheaval has left all of us a little more rattled and shaken than maybe ever before. It's like we're all on edge just waiting for the next eruption of chaos or sudden change that we can't see coming. In all of the madness, we're all just trying to find some kind of calm and rest for our souls. Now, if by some chance you didn't already know, the most powerful kind of peace is found in Christ!

My point is the point of this verse. The more we focus on God and try to hone in on His calling, the more solid and sturdy our lives will feel. The more we work to tune our ears to hear His voice and not all the others around us, the more focused and in tune we'll feel with our faith. I've always said that faith isn't meant to be stagnant. We need to always be working to push closer to Him, learn more from Him, and leave old ways behind.

Guys, every single day is a day that we can grow closer to our Father. Even days like today where the rest of the world is partying and dabbling in the darker side of life. Even when things aren't going well. Even when others have hurt us. No matter what, if we're focused solely on Christ then nothing will be able to knock us around.

If this year has taught us anything it's that we need a solid foundation in something that is unshakable. Life will never stop being crazy. We will never stop facing changes and challenges that we don't see coming. We have to build our lives on something that will keep us steady so that we can face it all with as much power and courage as possible. I truly encourage everyone to spend as much time as you can working on building your relationship with God. It's the one thing that can't be taken away, can't be shaken, and won't ever let us down!
