Day 2125 of the 7 day Bible verse challenge.


Matthew 15:13 NIV

Reading through Matthew chapter 15 last night and I just couldn't help but feel like Jesus is bringing the heat! So many amazing messages and lessons in one little chapter. When you stop and think about all that's in the Bible, it's a truly mind-blowing gift! To think that God managed to use all these different people, in different places, across the span of so many years to write a book that still teaches and guides is indescribable!

Going and reading through it again just now, verse 13 really caught my attention. This has been yet another one of those weeks. You know those weeks. So many ups and downs that you're not really sure if you're upright or upside down. Just seems like it keeps bringing uncertainty and things that we feel compelled to worry about.

But it got me to thinking about how important it is to be rooted in Christ. Life hits hard. It's loaded with uncertainty, things we can't control, thinks we won't enjoy. It brings trial after trial. It has a crazy mix of ups and downs. It hands us things that we worry about because we don't understand them. It knocks us down, and at times it lifts us up. It's completely unpredictable.

I can't imagine facing this journey without the hope of a Savior. I can't imagine what life would feel like if we didn't believe in something better to come. I can't imagine how much harder this all would be without being able to see and learn to appreciate the many blessings we've been given. Being rooted in faith in something bigger than us helps us face the challenges in life that are bigger than us.

If we don't build our lives on Christ then we're going to be blown all over the place. He gives us that firm foundation that keeps us from falling apart. His faithfulness to His promises keeps us going through the hard days because we know that better ones are coming. His mercy keeps us trying when we've failed because we know that forgiveness is possible.

It's so easy to see why we need faith. It's out source of hope and peace in the midst of life's rough spots. It's what holds us in place while everything around us seems uncontrollable. Friends, build your life and everything you do in it on Christ. Make faith your basis for everything and I promise that even the hard days up ahead won't be able to break you! He won't let that happen to those who are leaning on Him!

    Amen. We can not get through this life without him. What would life even be if it weren't for our Father and Savior.
