Day 2147 of the 7 day Bible verse challenge.

Romans 12:2 NIV

I figured I would share one of my personal favorites. Plus it goes right along with all we've been talking about here lately. I literally just saw this post that said, "You can’t walk with both Jesus and this world because they’re going in two different directions." If there's a bigger understatement at the moment I don't know what it could be!

It should come as no surprise that our world is going in a different direction than our faith calls us to walk. We've talked about a bunch of the ways that this place is spiraling further and further out of control. I'm sure that if you're reading this then you already know there are plenty of things wrong around here. So no point in going over all the problems and wrongs as we can all see them very clearly.

So why not start being different right now? This verse is one of the absolute best reminders that we are made to be different than the world around us. We do not have to lower ourselves to the disgusting standards that so many others have accepted. We do not have to delve into the darkness that is consuming the lives of so many. We do not have to pay attention to the distractions that others are telling us are important. We do not have to give in to the fear and worry that is gripping the hearts and minds of those without faith in Christ.

We do not have to live, think, or behave like this world. And again, we really shouldn't want to. The Gospel tells us the massive impact that Christ had while He walked this earth. One Man made a difference that has rocked the world and continues to change lives thousands of years later. Pretty easy to see that following Him will always mean more than following the paths of filth and wickedness of the world we live in.

Do not conform to the ways of this place. As I've been saying a whole lot lately, live for more. Focus on things that are higher. Prioritize the things that are good, righteous, holy, helpful, and uplifting. Be positive, encouraging, compassionate, loving, forgiving, and kind. Share messages that cut through the hatred and division that so many others are sharing. Stand up for Christ and never ever stop shining the light that He has created inside you.

Our world needs people who live boldly and passionately for Christ. Things won't be better if we don't start living better ourselves. People won't dare to change unless we live lives that show them the importance and freedom of leaving sin and selfishness behind. Christ asks us to lead by example by following His example.

And when we set aside the human desire to be like everyone else and commit ourselves to serving Him then He will always lead us in the right direction. He will always help us find our way through the muck and mire to the peace and joy of His presence. Don't you ever settle for less than Christ and His path to an eternity of peace in Heaven! It may take some courage to be different, but man is it worth it!

  1. We are not of this world, do not get caught up in it. Keep our eyes to the heavens and where our Savior and Father is. And yeah try to tell others to, everyone should know.

    1. Exactly! It's impossible to point others to Christ when we're pointing the same direction as everyone else. We can either serve Him or this world, but not both!

    2. Love how you put that.
