1 John 5:19 NIV

This right here is why we shouldn't be so focused on trying to fit in and make this world like us. We're going in two completely different directions! Or at least we should be. The way this world is going isn't the one that leads to the promises of God. All the sin and filth that is accepted and celebrated down here is leading to something far different than an eternity of peace. Far different!

So why walk the direction that everyone else is walking? Why go along with things that we know aren't okay? Why bend and twist and conform to fit a mold of depravity? The Bible makes it crystal clear what sin leads to. There's no debating what's waiting across the finish line for the evil of this world. I guess maybe some just like the heat and the flames of hell sound appealing. Personally, not really interested.

I think that's why I talk so much about not trying to fit in and be like the world around us. It's not a game. Worldly popularity and acceptance may seem important now, but they will do absolutely nothing for us when we're standing before God. And if it's not going to matter then, well it shouldn't matter now either! What should matter is living the lives we are called to live in Christ. Lives of righteousness and morality. Again, a stark contrast to what this world is doing!

We are sons and daughters of the King of Heaven. Why settle for this world? We're heirs to the Kingdom of God. Why trade that for some earthly throne? We need to stop forgetting who we are. We need to stop forgetting what we've been promised. While feeling like we fit in now may be comfortable, it can't compare to the comfort of knowing that we're heading for Heaven when these lives end.

Stop building your kingdom on this globe. This place is under the control of darkness, evil, hatred, sin, selfishness, and a complete lack of morals and decency. Does that really sound like what you want to be a part of? That's a choice we each have to make but I implore you to consider your options. Please don't settle for a life of being lost in the dark when you have the chance at an eternity of peace. Remember who you are, and remember who's you are. We belong to God, so this world and all it's garbage just don't matter!

Day 2018 of the 7 day Bible verse challenge.

Luke 6:27 NIV I was presented the chance earlier today to experience one of those amazing opportunities to realize that I'd been wrong. You see my family and I had bought some Bibles to send to a couple of people, and we just hadn't gotten around to sending them yet. Since the time that we bought them, we kind of had this weird and unfortunate falling out of sorts with one of them. And I'm embarrassed to admit that it had me second guessing whether or not to send the gift.  Seeing as how this difference of opinion has gone, I had gotten it in my mind that I didn't want to send something to someone only for them to throw it away. But all along, my mom has been there saying no, we need to send it anyway. And today, we finally got them boxed up and sent out. But if anything, I may have ended up getting the biggest gift out of everyone involved. We don't get to decide who is worthy of our kindness. Matthew 15:8 NIV It seems as though perhaps the distance from our heads to our hearts is, at times at least, much the same as the separation we so often feel between here and hope. For though our lips are geographically close to the hearts which pound inside a craving for more than we can say we need, say we know, yet sadly despite their being so near to our knowing what we need, we find that our mouths and our hearts are existing as if in two foreign places.
