Day 2232 of the 7 day Bible verse challenge.

Psalm 27:14 NIV

We know about Good Friday. The world celebrates Easter Sunday. What about Saturday? What about that day in between? Why doesn't it get more acclaim? Well, Holy Saturday is an altogether different kind of day. It's the day between the dying of our Savior and His resurrection. It's that time of waiting, hoping, wondering. In other words, Holy Saturday is the hard part!

We all know that waiting can be excruciating! The promise of something better to come. The hope of promises being fulfilled. The joy of being rewarded for our faith. But so much of our faith and life itself is in those in-between times. We all do a lot of waiting and hoping that what we believe in will come to pass. And no matter how short the wait is, it always feels like an eternity because we know that what's coming is going to be so incredible.

The Saturday between Good Friday and Easter Sunday is when Christ lay in the tomb. Those who doubted were filled with the joy that they have defeated Him and ended His movement. Those who believed were hanging on to any hope they could find that He meant what He said. It was a day of mourning, doubt, questions, maybe even fear. Sounds a lot like the things that we feel when we have to wait doesn't it?

We have to always trust that God is working even when we can't see it. He is always up to something even it feels like nothing is happening. That's why it's called faith! We won't always see what He's doing. We don't always have the luxury of feeling progress or seeing quick results. Sometimes we're just called to wait. Some days we have to remain patient and trust that He hasn't abandoned His promises. Some times we just have to believe in what we can't see!

There's always going to be a lot of waiting in life. We're all going to face those times when it seems like nothing is happening and the promises we've hoped in don't seem any closer. But cling to your faith in Him. Always trust that the God who has never let you down isn't going to start now. Good things come to those who wait, and Holy Saturday is just about the best example of that there is!

  1. Amen. It's during the storms we find he is there to and that he will see us through.

    1. Very true! We grow closer to Him when we're forced to trust in Him rather than ourselves.
