Day 2233 of the 7 day Bible verse challenge.

Matthew 28:6 NIV

Arguably the biggest day of our faith. Growing up it was all about the Easter egg hunts and bunny rabbits. Dyeing eggs and having dinners. Finding a gift basket filled with more sugar than anyone should consume in one sitting. Who would have thought as we grow up and get older that we'd find out that it's about something far sweeter! And the biggest surprise isn't an egg hidden in grass, it's a stone rolled away from a tomb.

Resurrection Sunday is the fulfillment of God's promise to set us free and remove our sins as far away as possible. Forgiveness is something truly special and it's a gift that all of us can take part in because of Christ's death. He carried our sins and their punishment in His body to the cross. Then from the cross to the tomb. And that's where they were left. He buried them. He left them behind so that we could too.

He washed our sins away so that we wouldn't be buried under their weight anymore. True freedom, true forgiveness, true love like nothing else we've known before. It really is incredible that He chose to do what He did for you and me. It's a gift that we should celebrate every single day that we're given. To know that we are loved even though we're far from worthy is what our faith is all about. And it pushes us to live the better lives that He died to give us the chance to live.

Our God is a God of promises. And when it comes to promises, there is none better or more faithful than our Father. When we says something, He means it. When He promises to make a way, you can bet that He will do just that. When He says you're forgiven, you better know that it's true! There is nothing that can change His plans or alter His promises. Not even death!

Friends, He has risen! And since our faith gives us the chance to die to sin and live for Christ then we're risen too. Our pasts are dead and buried. Our sins are gone forever. Our lives are now free to live for something better than we deserve. Never forget what He's done for you and the opportunity that it presents. And be sure to toss up a thank you for such an indescribable gift. Happy Easter my friends!
