Day 4260 of the 7 day Bible verse challenge.

Job 20:8 NIV

A whisper in the dark

Such is the fate that awaits those wicked at heart. And this is because at each day’s start their willingness toward reason, righteousness and reality falls apart. For within them they have not a care as to the story we’re all living nor the part for which they were cast as rather than being kids caught in the wonder and awe of it all they instead wish only to wander without the wonder as to the Word and its Writer. Instead the wicked want for their own story written of their own gain and all theirs the glory. And what makes this such the common confusion is that it is sadly what so many are doing and that to what seems a life so filled with everything that anyone could ever want.

But that which fills is that which can be emptied whereas that which is empty can only then be filled.

And that upon the Day when everything’s promised to change.

And sure, said Day seems to continue to elude, evade. There’s indeed come not yet said Day in which change has been demanded as rather within every morning we’re all handed that all too familiar fact that we can go on doing this or that, living life all over the map and so unbothered, unworried, unashamed of it all that we even lose the thought to try and cover our tracks as we get it in our hearts that the trying and lying is what makes a life worth living and thus none who follow us will find in us anything but everything we think we are.

Which is always right and our every choice then so packed with reason that we’ve no reason to consider the call to unpack our bags as we ready for leaving. Rather we grow to hold every intention of always here staying, putting down roots into this soil so rotten and ruined and that by everyone else who too is always only doing whatever they want as if none of it matters.

No, so long as it flatters or makes their life fatter rather than flatter then that to most is all that can matter.

For now at least.

And again, indeed, the here and now is now so common and known that we probably feel easily at home thanks to what have come to become entire lives lived as if this land and life we’ve learned to love is high and above anything else that anyone else may say is anywhere else. Thus to the heathen even Heaven becomes a concession worthy of only a passing consideration and that only whenever those random bad days happen upon them.

Because most days go fairly well here, so well enough in fact that all of us have felt that perhaps our every hope is best had here. Maybe it does makes more reason to look for what we’re feeling within the place in which how we look determines how we feel. Maybe it is reasonable to refuse the call to live upright and righteously as instead success seems to be found far more easily by those seeking only fun and fame and friends with them who spend their lives seeking endlessly the same.

In truth they have no shame as anymore even the wicked hide not their wrongs as, well, we’ve all but arrived upon the point in life in which wrong is so considered right thanks to darkness being these days counted for light that it’s easy for those doing wrong to think they’re doing right as the rest of the world sure seems plenty willing to always agree.

And that it always will only adds to the apparent legitimacy bundled inside the intimacy found inside those who too do the same things you choose to.

The warmth of the welcome of the wicked makes us feel even further at home in this hole falling further into the fade away from forever. So much so that few ever stop to wonder, let alone reconsider, what might await their share of the fall. I guess it’s just too much fun and all. And, well, here fun is our favorite drug and we take it doses that so dull the senses that we see again no shame in much if anything of all we’re doing.

Long gone are the closets we once worked to keep our skeletons in.

Nowadays we wear them for everyone to see as they’ve become our very family and only friends.

All because, again, here the wicked win.

And win they will until the end. Alas the end tarries in the night ahead, a thief waiting to wreak havoc on those who haven’t the ability left within them to worry about it coming to take what they’ve lived to keep. And as it waits through all these days we find then only ways to always want to only do whatever we want because, well, it’s both what we want and we find always no worry in so wanting it because, well, the promise of punishment is so long now in coming that most of us have just agreed that coming it isn’t.

For here there is no banishment except for those who bear the burden of bearing the truth. Here is there is nothing to lose other than your welcome and their warmth who pretend the power to give it or take it away. Here there is no better way than to spend your life doing whatever you want and as much of it as you’ve the might to prove you might. No, here we all live in the darkness of night thinking ever ourselves always the knight who needn’t the armor of the arm of a Savior as from a life so filled and fun we need no saving.

Rather the wicked wish only for Him to leave them alone so that they’re not bothered by His being bothered by the boredom they find in the doing of right.

We want to do wrong. We enjoy doing wrong. We make friends doing wrong because everyone else is doing wrong too.

Thus we stand only to lose should we agree that one day we’ll leave and that for a life so changed that all we’ve here learned to love is proven only all that He has always said He’d hate and would never then allow anywhere near Himself.

No, we wish not to wonder as to the whereabouts of hell as rather we think we’re already in Heaven.

All because the heathen hasn’t the truth in them to help them see otherwise.

Because, again, there is no other life than the one in which we’ve already won and wish then only to win even more of whatever it is that this world has in store. And indeed, we find all the time that within this life lived within this world and mostly only always of the same, as the same, there is always something new to have and thus something more to want and it’s had as easily as our continually agreeing that this world is our oyster and there’s surely no punishment in our pushing toward the pearl.

Except for the promise that one day we’ll leave this world and that for the outcome that some say will go really bad for those who considered their lives here so very good that they never found the audacity to agree unto laying them down to make room for their arms and hearts and heads to carry crosses instead. No, He told us plain that whomever shall not take up their cross and follow Him to and through the willing loss of this life and all the things we’ve sought to win within are the same as those who are not worthy of Him.

The same as will not be welcomed by Him but rather turned away from Him and the fullness of who and what and where He is.

Problem is that He is the Savior who came here to pave the Way to Heaven where life is lived forever.

And somehow we’ve gotten it inside our heads and hearts that we’re better off falling so in love with a world falling so clearly apart that we, at each day’s start, seek only for more reasons to stay.

Even though every grave says we never can.

But the problem is that our doubts and disbelief has us relieved of the worry of our leaving this world as we’re anymore so very shortsighted that we seek still only the sights we see assuming even our every hope at home within them. And indeed, maybe it is because it sure does seem as if the wicked are living the easy life within this life.

Issue is that He’s said everything will be changed to the tune of those who are first finding out that they’re last and have thus already had their reward and haven’t then any prize left to find after they’ve left this place. Rather they’ll become but a whisper left most unheard and unknown as it fades into the black behind us who are welcomed home to Heaven as, well, once inside those gates there’s not much point in reflecting back on those who sought so hard to avoid the grave and ended up choosing to stay within it because of it.

No, for Heaven is the place in which perfect peace is placed and it’s said to be so perfect that no darkness will ever again be known. Rather Heaven is the home where He is the light as the Son replaces the sun and never sets, never leaves, never forsakes, forgets. Rather those who make it there and are welcomed in will be there with Him forever.

But it’s promised many won’t be as rather most will be turned away as He is so fair as to do unto others as they’ve done unto Him. Living then our lives in sin seeking inside our every choice to cater to our every desire the need for Him to leave us alone thereby sentencing ourselves to being forever separated from Him who we wanted only to leave us alone.

He will.

He will take Himself so very far from those who lived so very long wanting nothing of Him, nothing from Him, giving nothing to Him that they will be forever apart.

“Like a dream he flies away, no more to be found, banished like a vision of the night.”

Such is the fate that awaits the wicked at the end of this life. They shall become but a whisper eventually forgotten by those who found their hope as treasure stored only in Heaven with He who promised to keep both it and us protected until we get there to where we live here wanting to be. Yes, Heaven is the home of those who find here a willingness, a readiness to leave as they learn of a love that was willing to lay down a life that they might find they get to live with Him forever.

Alas that’s not a willingness nor then ever a readiness ever to be found by those who only flee from such faith of that hope held by another in another place.

Rather those many spend here their lives yelling about all they want and how much fun they’ll continue to find in doing only always the same, going so far as to scream at Him in blame for anything, everything that fails to go their way. Yes, many in this place use God as a punching bag, always angry with Him anytime anything even seems to maybe go bad.

Because He’s supposed to be good and yet we’ve become so spiritually blind that we’ve all become of the mind that has us living these lives as if we think that only means that He’s just up there to always agree to everything we want Him to do for us or take from us. He isn’t. He’s there to watch over us and to, only if we’ll in humility allow, save us from ourselves.

But the wicked here win so much and so well that, well, they again cannot see that they’re ever in need of such salvation.

This life is their vacation. It is their reward.

Until it proves surprising only our ruin.

Friends, we’re not here to win this world. We’re not here to want this world. We’re not here to make friends with this world. We’re here to realize this world for what it is and just how far it has fallen from what His Word says He at first created it to be. And sure, this is something entirely hard to see thanks to our ability to see clearly that such things as greed and lust and gluttony give so very many such a great time inside this life.

But we need to always remember that one day all will be reversed as there is reserved the underside of the table that is this life for everyone who has ever lived one.

In the blink of an eye all will be changed.

What was had here will be left here. What we didn’t have here is what we’ll find. How we felt here will fade and be forgotten whereas what we didn’t feel here will be found and felt forever.

Let us be careful then when seeking our pleasure, our gain, our comfort or success or whatever else. For while those things can be found here, and entirely easy for those hopelessly wicked, the last hope of the wicked is that they somehow manage to hear Him whisper that He loves them and that that shifts something in them that inspires them to give unto Him whatever of them there might be left that they’ve not yet given away to all the glory and gain held and had within this hole.

For that is all that this world is now thanks to our each having spent our lives mining it for meaning. It’s just a hole where life used to be.

It’s a pit filled with greed and lust and gluttony.

All things which shall be left as but whispers in the dark that is found only outside the gates of the place where only light and life and love are found and that forever.

Please don’t leave here to become a whisper of a life that was once lived but is thus lived no further.

For we’ve all been offered the promise of life forever.

Who really cares if the only way to find it is to live as if we care to be here no longer?

Friends, there is nothing here that we can find or have or be that we can keep or remain forever. Rather everything here is instead already lost. Our only hope is found in our agreeing that so too have we been because, again, that which is lost is that which can be found. But whatever we’ve found already is only everything that can, and according to His Word, will be lost eventually.

Again, don’t live to be lost, left out, left behind. Because the fate of the wicked is their being but a whisper that’s eventually forgotten about.

For why would any remember what time proves a nightmare when you’re found welcomed into that place in which your every dream always waited in the form of life and love and peace unending? Heaven will have too much that’s entirely too good for us to ever remember the words and ways of those whose eternity went the other way.

Sure, the wicked may win here and now but that only leaves them with nothing to look forward to later.

Rather they’ll fade into the dark of which they chose to remain a part, and thus they’ll remain forever apart from He who is the Light that tried only to save them from that outcome by asking that they come out from this world and let Him take the world out of them. All because this world is passing away and He wants for none of us to do the same. If we want otherwise, well, that’s our right in this life.

But doing wrong will never be right no matter how many may scream and yell otherwise.

They’re the ones who will fly away like a dream in the night and be there banished from the light. Again, don’t risk that being your life’s outcome.

Not when He made it so easy to avoid it.
