Day 2445 of the 7 day Bible verse challenge.

2 Timothy 1:7 NIV

Each of us have this strength inside of us that we often don't even realize we have. It's the Spirit of God that He gave us to help guide us through this warzone that we like to refer to as life. Sadly we often forget or fail to realize that there's something so special inside. We get stuck looking at the sheer scope of our circumstances and allow the size of the battle ahead of us to keep us cowering in fear. But it doesn't have to be that way.

God knows that our world isn't kind. He knows that going against the grain isn’t for the faint of heart. He knows that each of us will go through trials that will push us right to the very edge of our strength and abilities. He knows that some things we come up against will in fact require more than we have to give. And He also knows that we're prone to wandering and struggling because we're a fallen humanity. But even with all of the issues and struggles that we have and all those that will come our way, He refuses to give up on us. And He gives us His Spirit to prove that fact.

So maybe we should stop being so quick to give up on ourselves. I think that's one of the biggest hurdles that we end up letting hold us back from experiencing the fullness of our faith. We doubt ourselves. We look at the world through the perspective of what we think we can accomplish. We pre-judge outcomes based on the limited strength and courage that we think we have. And in doing so, we tend to stop far short of what we can actually do if we'd just lean on His strength rather than our own.

We have to stop seeing things through our eyes and learn to look at life from His perspective. We will face giants along this journey. We will come up against mountains that seem insurmountable. Trials and tribulations are a part of every story and every life. It just boils down to whether we're going to approach them as victims ready to fail or as victors who have already won. That little switch in our mindset is one of the biggest secrets to overcoming the rough spots along this journey.

Friends, you have more inside of you than you have ever tapped into. You have a strength that can overcome any obstacle. You have a courage that can step up and stare giants in the face. You have a love that will not bend, will not waver, will not fail. You have a will that can see you through any trial or temptation that can possibly come at you in this life. We all have a Spirit inside that is bigger, stronger, and more incredible than we can imagine. It's time we start unleashing it!

Look, life isn't going to get easier and our world isn't going to calm down or stop being this miserable mix of weird and wicked. But we don't have to face it on our strength alone. We don't have to stay up late at night trying to figure out how to get around the mountains in our way. God's got this, He's got us, and there is nothing that He can't do. We just need to learn to look past ourselves and lean on His power instead. Victims or victors. The choice is ours.
